I sit down at a beginning, although it takes me awhile to recognize it.
The area has changed a lot. It was changing then, although the pier where I sit existed then, as did the whole boardwalk. But, on another August night exactly many years ago today, this bench would have been private, on the edges of the tourist activity that defines the space today.
It would have been a place you might have shared a kiss, or gotten engaged.
It might have been such a place.
